Rosa sub Rosa 8: Killing Time

In their annual Rosa sub Rosa series the Rosa Ensemble invites students to join in and work for and with the ensemble in making a performance. The series is about music and experiment, development and mutual encounter.

For their annual Rosa sub Rosa-series the Rosa Ensemble cooperates with young composers in making a performance. The series is about music and experiment, development and encounter.

With Rosa sub Rosa 8: Killing Time composers of the Royal Conservatory The Hague take the audience on an unpredictable journey through the musical unknown: from computer games and video projections to telephones and a tin ballerina.

The basic principle is Rosa’s ‘music as theatre’-method: cooperating with the musicians in developing the compositions, their execution and the overall structure of the performance. Working with an overall theme, the composers are not only responsible for the music, but also for the performance as a whole, including lights, video, theatrical elements, dramaturgy etc. Rosa sub Rosa is small, flexible, exciting and fresh. With the project, the Rosa Ensemble takes its responsibility and invests in the talent of the future.
