Casa Rosa #2: Sleep Gunner & Rosa Ensemble
This Spring Rosa Ensemble invites you to its headquarters, hidden deep
in endless post-apocalyptic Plattenbau of Utrecht Overvecht, for an informal
evening of in-studio extravaganza. In the Fall of 2012 Rosa celebrates
its 15th anniversary and to anticipate this pivotal moment in our history we decided to initiate Casa Rosa: a series of events during
which the musicians of Rosa Ensemble will play old and new material.
Every edition of Casa Rosa also highlights an individual member of the
ensemble or a special guest.
Casa Rosa #2 highlights Rosa guitarist
Jeroen Kimman. The program consists of a performance of his band
Sleep Gunner and two sets of Rosa Ensemble. Sleep Gunner is a pair of
Amsterdam-based drinking buddies that has fallen hard for the music of
1950s Alabama heartbreak duo The Louvin Brothers. They
translate the high and lonesome twists and turns of melody of the original recordings from Ira and Charlie Louvin into something that can be delivered with two guitars.
